In Dust City Tarot,
these 22 cards show the classic story of the Hero's Journey,
from arrival to departure
and the opportunities for growth along the way. The cards act as windows into scenes from this 4 day tribe.You (The Fool) arrive at the festival, never having been before, and ready to be transformed. Or perhaps you have been before and think you're prepared (as is the naivety of The Fool!), but each event is never the same.You encounter characters such as the volunteers, rangers, richly dressed revellers, workshop leaders and spiritual walkers.You engage with opportunities for change and balance, through dancefloors, art, and leave no trace.You confront yourself and society through toilet cubicles, thunderstorms, and watching the big burn.By the end, tired and having had the experiences needed, you reflect on the way back to your default life. The Fool has become a new person who is changed forever.

Swords =
Frequencies

Swords cut through the air.
The air is associated with the mind.
Thinking and communication moves in
frequenciesAt festivals, commonly people use walkie talkies and radios as ways to communicate. Devices that make sound, such as dance floor speakers also create frequencies and vibrations. Being on the same wavelength as someone else also helps with communication and sharing ideas in this mental space.

Wands =
Flow Props

Wands create sparks and fire.
Fire is associated with your passions.
Passion often leads to states of flow,
especially when using
flow propsPeople dancing with flow props are often seen at festivals. There are many variations of props, with diverse history and spiritual connections. Creativity has no bounds. This state of allowing yourself to become the action can also be described as flow state.

Chairs

Cups hold water from tears to cleanse our heart.
Water is associated with emotions.
Emotional connection is often found in
chairsThere are many places around a festival site that offers seating. Market places, campsites, that grassy patch at the back of a dancefloor. In these moments, we can find heartfelt connection, to ourselves and others, and hold a space for our emotions.

Pentacles =
Gifting

Pentacles are coins, to be exchanged for value.
Value is associated with sharing.
We can live in a community of
giftingSome community-based festivals have a principle of Gifting. This is an unconditional act of generosity, not a trade, which enhances our experience of abundance. Whether it might be trinkets, items of need, art, knowledge, time or attention, we all have gifts to share. Big or small, they all have value.

- Minor Arcana cards have borders with elements to make reading quicker and more intuitive
- Backgrounds on cards match to locations on the Dust City Festival map
- Labels more easily read
- Card quality is being upgraded
- Gold foil added on front and back to enhance vibe and readability for beginners

About the Author

Hi, I'm Daina :)I am a teacher and mentor, who specialises in neurodiversity, wellbeing and behaviour leadership. As a self-described nerd, my spiritual perspective is shaped by jungian psychology, hermetic philosophy, integral theory, sciences, religion, and a range of first-hand spiritual practices.In 2015, I attended my first festival, Rainbow Serpent in Victoria. None of my friends went but I didn't let that stop me. After a big breakup, I took the leap to buy a ticket and find a rideshare. Those new people became friends and welcomed me into their camp. Needless to say, many of those people still hold a place in my heart. My other favourite festivals include Earth Frequency in QLD, Ozora in Hungary, and regional Burning Man events.This new tribal community fills me with curiosity and wonder, where I can play and grow. Festivals have became a regular part of my lifestyle, and have shaped me into the person I am today.I am so grateful for the opportunities and people I have met who enrich my life. It surprises me how excited I am to share this tarot project with you. I've combined my interests and created it out of love for the people I get to share it with. I believe in hope for humanity and this is my small contribution.
